Episode 10a was recorded on Saturday the 18th of April and is so long that it has been edited into two parts.

I was woken from my slumber by a very eager Chris, eager to chat about his new Jib arm. An excitable and initially ornery Chris - after a week of troubled email communications due to certain challenging remarks that I made.

Chris had also discovered an important location for use in the film’s driving scenes. We debated whether we should rush the production to fit in with the Texas Bloodbath dates, or push things back a bit; and Chris receives word from Hart Fisher that he really likes 3 DEAD GIRLS! This prompted a 40 minute discussion which turned out to be a podcast in its own right as Chris agonises over the decision to give someone else the right to promote 3 DEAD GIRLS!

Subjects edited from the podcast were: Clown faced church burning death metallers and how cleavage can be very distracting in tough negotiations. A rant about video companies ripping off fans with multiple releases of the same films. How LET THE RIGHT ONE IN caused some minor outrage among fans over dodgy subtitling and I tear into the Star Wars films.

Episode 9 was recorded on Sunday the 29th of March.

Chris and I were both in a good mood - me especially due to changing jobs - but both suffering from congestion - apologies for the snuffly voices. I hadn’t read the latest ROSEBLOOD script as I was feeling guilty for falling behind with editing the podcast. But that delay gave Chris a chance to rework things and refine the religious thematic premise of the movie; using some documentaries as inspiration. I was much happier now that this work had begun in earnest. And Chris mentions a new horror talent agency that has started up in Texas.

Subjects edited from the podcast were: Brighton shocks film screenings, and the excellent French film MARTYRS, customers that don’t listen, the Joseph Fritzl documentary. How Lee’s Favourite drink is a tankard of vodka and coke - yet even that can’t soften the blow of being forced to watch other people’s wedding videos. And what Chris thinks of California state tax is tame compared to Lee’s rant about the UK unemployment system.

Episode 8 was recorded on Sunday the 15th of March.

Chris has discovered the joys of movie rental downloads via broadband. And after upgrading his iBook and buying a lap desk his productivity has soared, by enabling Chris to start writing the ROSEBLOOD script in bed! Act one of the script is now complete! Also his upgraded iBook is now ready to handle audio recording on location, but not multi take recording which Chris now wants to do. Lee suggests the Zoom H4 as an option. Tony Simmons is alive and well and back in the picture! And we discuss guerilla filming strategies and special FX shots.

Subjects edited from the podcast were: How the Brits do indeed have to do ‘yard work’ but do badly at Eurovision due to a general lack of popularity, not because it is rigged with Eastern Block voting. ;0) - but they don’t care, because they’re too busy playing Eurovision drinking games..

Episode 7 was recorded on Saturday the 7th of March.

But the mammoth 3 hour chat has proven very difficult to edit down to something more palatable… bear with us - we have two more episodes still to come and are definitely not slacking. Life was just getting in the way, but thing shave settled now!

Chris was stressed out over the the apparent disappearance of Tony Simmons and frustrated by the lack of progress on the script and plagued by doubts about his own abilities. I had started a new job, which had placed me under a huge amount of stress, long working hours, causing chronic nosebleeds due to a profound lack of sleep and zero free time or energy to work on the film or the podcast. But a small glimmer of hope came out of this chat, when Chris revealed that a casting decision has finally been made and I felt like I had finally gotten through to Chris about a way to get over his writers’ block.

Subjects edited from the podcast were: Midnight Meat Train; the details of my mad job; the pointless futility of school reunions. The fact that many production companies can’t be bothered to acknowledge the receipt of scripts.

Episode 6 was recorded on Monday the 16th of February.

Apologies for any delay getting this podcast out - it was a 2.5 hr conversation which had to be edited down to under 30 minutes… not easy! And I started a new job which has taken up all my free time. Phew!…

Chris was unable to sleep, and I was full of cold; previously our schedules had clashed and we were in danger of not being able to talk at all so I took the opportunity to torment him and deprive him of more sleep. It was also a good opportunity to try out his new headset mic and DSL connection to see if they improved the audio quality. We had a lively chat about more props that will be used in the film and low cost options for car shots / driving scene camera mounts, as well as discussing the extras on 3 DEAD GIRLS and how Chris had tormented me with a Satanic fridge while putting that DVD together.

Apologies for the sound quality. Chris was at work, so the audio is hampered by some background noise issues. However, we had a lively chat about the preliminary music score for the opening scenes of ROSEBLOOD (something we gave you a little taster of at the beginning of this podcast), how DSL is helping Chris with his research and inspiring thoughts about the production; and some other podcasts that Lee recommends to obtain production info and guidance.

Episode 4 was recorded on Sunday the 18th and Sunday the 25th of January and delayed due to various technical issues.

Chris attended the Hunks of Horror calendar signing at Dark Delicacies, whilst hanging out with Tony Simmons and talking to Lee Perkins he promotes 3 DEAD GIRLS; carries out a video interview for AMERICAN HORRORS and talks about the early stages of the ROSEBLOOD script - as work has finally begun on that front. As part of Chris’s preliminary work he has chosen a prop that is central to unlocking the lead character’s backstory (an antique suitcase) and the link to Bill Moseley’s DEVIL’S REJECTS character. We also discuss the potential location for the story and Chris’s concerns over male nudity.
